Trip in S.E.A.---Singapore

The last stop of my South East Asia trip is Singapore, the country I read, heard and thought so much about. Two and half day trip can definitely not cover the whole city of Singapore even though it is very small on my world map.

Singapore is a delicate city.Every inch of the country is trimmed to the right size and painted with the right colour. The area by Singapore river collected some famous morern archetectures. It embraced all kind of western and oriental design ideas.(I was shown the builing Ieoh Ming Pei, 贝聿铭 designed which I longed to see.) On a night after Chinese New Year, walking along the river soaked with lights and celebration atmosphere, I started to understand what Singaporeans are proud of...

Another favourite building of mine.

Singapore is another country of multi-culture and multi-ethnic. I enjoyed the voice around me which are a mix of Mandarin,English, Malay,Hokkian (Fujian dialect),Indian and many others. Even if they are trying to speak English only to me, their English is a mix of multi-language. I smiled secretly, Aiya, I knew it lah...

Multi-culture brings fantastic food....Mm...yummy...

Multi-culture brings multi-religion.Actually, it is a strange phenomena. There is a Hindu Temple in Singapore Chinatown and it is celebrating Chinese New Year also..I have complicated feeling about it. Faith? Culture? Maybe nothing is more important than making everyone happy.

One of the highlights of my Singapore trip is the Chinese heritage museum. It tells the history of Chinese immigration a century ago. That's painful memory of Chinese origin immigrants. It probably is simpler than those immigrants to the western countries but their tears and sweats are the same....

Because of that history, I looked down from the Merlion at this long Mazaic dragon in Santosa, wondering where this dragon is going. This dragon was called 龙脉 (a word hard to translate). It must mean something for Singaporean, which is related the symbol of old China. The interesting thing is that this dragon is facing the Merlion statue. In the movie of Merlion (watch it inside of the Merlion's stomach), Singapore was first found by a prince of Alexander the Great! Wow, I was really impressed....

The trip ends with a movie of Jack Neo,
I not stupid too. I laughed and cried as what I did when watching 'I not stupid'. It's soooooo Singapore!
