Welcome to the real world...

'Welcome to the real world....' they said when I stepped out of school.
'Welcome to the real world....' they said when I realised 'mind over matters' isn't always applicable.
'Welcome to the real world....' they said when I found myself frutstrated with people but have to cope with them anyway.

Sigh..............................

Recently, I've been thinking about being promoted to the higher grade of my job. Not because I feel I deserve it but I want to have more chanlenges in my workplace. 'No chanlenges, no life. ' I said to myself.

Therefore, I asked my manager if I am entitled for applying for it, as we have 4 vacancies next month (although one has been taken by someone from outside of the department berfore the advertisement out).

She said she would talk about it with me. So she did, for 5 minutes.

After that, I said to myself 'Welcome to the real world!'

That was a conversation with nil investigation of my ability but totally discouragement for any further proactive thinking. Thank God, I was very calm.

Afterwards, manager No. 2 approached me and encouraged me to apply for it although No. 1 said I havn't got enough experience according to the new policy. She said, 'there will be more than one person to interview you.' But, I havn't done the book that No. 1 requires but it was out just recently and I was given today. No. 2 said, 'You've got the book now. Do it tommorrow! Show to them at interview. There are lots of things you can be signed off right now.'

.......oh...there is justice somewhere. Anyway, No.1 had worked less than 5 days with me for the entire 3 years, while No.2 has worked with me nearly everyday.

Another colleague said to me, 'Don't be upset. You know who you are. Bear it in your mind that you deserve more than you're applying for.'

Back to cozy house, talked to people, feel much better. Aren't working places the same in the east as in the west? Aren't people similar? Injustice and favouritism are not affected by culture and social system.

After reading the book I was given today (amazing, I read professional knowledge before I check my mail and blog.) , I encountered this verse.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; ... For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? ----Matthew5:44,46-47

I feel sorry for today, my thoughts.
Who I was listening to? Manager No.1? No. 2? Colleagues? Friends? Myself? I cared so much about my job, reputation, relationships but forgot what God cares. And I failed to follow this verse. That's the failure for today.

'Welcome to the real world.....' They say.

Mm............ I ponder.....
