God on trial

God on Trial is a film for TV which was showed on BBC recently. It attracted many people and discussion about its foundamental theme---Why? God, Why there are so much suffering on the world You created? Why a good God allow bad things happen to his loving creature?

I watched it on BBC iplayer. The setting was purely grey and depressing. Maybe there is no visible beauty shown in the story at all. Imagine, that's Auschwitz camp!!!
The whole drama is very intense, full of thoughts and debates. Those Jew prisoners asked each other, and themselves, 'Why', 'Why' and 'Why'. Each of their stories was full of unspeakable sadness.
Initially, I thought about God's salvation plan which is shown by Jesus. Maybe Jews didn't fully accept Jesus as the way to ETERNAL life. Maybe a Christian would be more understanding about the suffering and God. I thought.
Then, I thought about the book of Habakkuk, which was written 7 centuries BC. Isreal must have experience extreme violence and matryre at that time. The author cried, 'Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrong? ' Habakkuk 1:3
God answered His heartbroken people. Indeed, there were wicked people whom was used as punishment to Isreal. However, the wicked will punished more for their violence.
From the beginning to the end, God is the same. ' The Lord is in the holy temple, let all the earth be silent before him.' Habakkuk 2:20It reveals to me that God has shown His people the grand plan of salvation much earlier than Christ's coming.
The prophet finished the book with the passage I love the most,
'Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Saviour.' 3:17-18
God's people didn't know 'Why', but they know 'How'.

In the situation of sufferring, we will feel helpless, we will be angry about God and we will ask 'Why? Is God on our side? Or is He here at all?'
Have faith! This is the only way while we are sufferring.
