In one day, I listened to some of Obama's speeches since 2004. I actually learnt a little bit about why people voted him. The biggest number of voters ever shows that more people, including quiet people who never believed in politicians started voting for their chance to get involved in the biggest issue of their country.
It is said that Obama is not able to change the world but the world will be changed because of him. I agree.
Recently, I had some frustration at work and thought about my existance in this land. Maybe I am wrong about the world. Maybe I have to give up my ambition and dream in a country I am new to. I sensed the lengendary 'glass ceiling'. No matter how hard I try, there is a limit I can't reach because who I am or whom I can never be.
It was frustrating. It was more frustrating when I secretly thought that this world does not count your faith but your face. People don't want to make friends with any foreigners no matter how well their communication skills are. This building has a glass ceiling to limit our steps although we can see through.
Obama became the president! He got there. I want to say, well done, Americans! You didn't use scandal to cheat in election. You didn't use voilence to beat memebers of opposite politicians. You didn't say no when a person asking to fulfill his dream with you.
A few years ago, Obama said he was the skinny black boy with funny name who also had a dream, Americans heard his dream. Maybe many Americans thought about their own dreams too. Why not smash the glass ceiling and make more dreams come true? Yes, they did.
Equal opportunity promotes world peace--what I thought at the end of the election. When people have different faith, skin-colour, culture and background can pursuit their rights and dreams through a peaceful way, they won't go for extream action.
I pray that more people would learn this lesson and more people would perservere in pursueing their grand or humble dreams.
