We partied all day last Saturday. Last programme was watching this movie together with friends. A few girls were tearful afterwards. Some guys didn't quite get it. I found that the screenplay was amazing. It is such a beautiful movie.
I like the way Americans expressing a British story with the distinct beauty of China. The story was full of smart old British style conversations. Those casts use their EYES instead of words to express the change of feeling. Very vivid.
The love story itself is not complicated at all. It is telling us the journey of a young lady's growth. A rich, superficial lady was unveiled to these poor people suffering with war, poverty and cholera. She also start to see another side of man---her husband's heart and contribution in saving lives. Just as we were amazed at the beauty of nature, she was amazed at what she discovered. She asked herself 'Would I ever love a man for his virtue?'
Same thing happened for her husband. He discovered the goodness deeply hidden in his beautiful young wife. The heart of compassion and charity needs to be woken up by suffering. Love grows in the toughest place.
After the movie, the sight of the beaufiful land was in my mind all day long. Great pictures were caught by the producers. I can't wait to go back to China and walk through those mountains and rivers...
