情书

The third time, I watched my favourite movie 'Love letter' by Shunji Iwai. Having told people so much about this movie over the 6 years since I first watched it, I am still in love with the story, the music and the way that it tells about love and life.

It's something you can only understand with the understanding of oriental people. You can only udnerstand with the memory of love of the youth. You can only understand if you believe to love isn't simply to have.

There is a
anonymous poem which came up to my memory together with the movie.

我爱你,可我不敢说
我怕我说了,马上就会死去

我不怕死
我怕我死了,
再没有人象我这样爱你

I love you,
but dare not tell you
I'm afraid that
I'll die if I do

I do not fear death,

but I'm afraid that

If I die

No one'd love you so much as I do

Hi Rachel, what a great blog(Don't usually read blogs), love your observations.
By the way, Shunji Iwai, the director has made another movie recently called 'Hana and Alice', a beautiful movie about youth and friendship with lots of humor and unconventional storytelling. Highly recommended!

Hi, Alfred, thanks for visiting! I did watch 'Hanna & Alice' for a bit. But I really don't like it. It's something out of my style. Shunji Iwai did it beautifully though.
